Having a fat ass means you’re healthy
Really
Got a J-Lo butt? Fear not.
Women can stop worrying about pear-shaped figures — fat bottoms have been scientifically proven to be a sign of good health.
New research, published in the journal Cell Metabolism, suggests the fat responsible for producing the pear shape flaunted by celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce may be active in protecting women from diseases by releasing certain hormones.
Buttock and hip fat may protect women against type 2 diabetes, researchers from Harvard Medical School found.
When buttocks and hip fat from mice was injected into other mice, their bodies easily used the blood sugar-regulating hormone insulin and lost weight. More [here]

History 101
For those that don’t know about history … Here is a condensed version:
Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:
1. Liberals
2. Conservatives
Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That’s how villages were formed.
Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q’s and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.
Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.
Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.
Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn’t fair to make the pitcher also bat.
Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.
Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.
Here ends today’s lesson in world history:
It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it.
A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off.
And there you have it. Let your next action reveal your true self.

Tracy Warner is a big fat idiot
Tracy Warner is pathetic.
Allen County Republicans face the unusual situation of replacing three elected officials midterm during a single day this month.
Republican precinct committeemen from southwest Allen County will vote Jan. 24 on replacing Cal Miller, who resigned abruptly last week from the Allen County Council. While others have expressed interest, only Jim Howard, the purchasing director for the city of Fort Wayne, has publicly announced intentions to seek the office.
Miller has done as much as any local Republican in the past six years to advance a progressive agenda emphasizing fiscal accountability and willingness to seek changes in local government. Howard, a staunch social conservative, is from the Matt Kelty wing of the local GOP.
When did the GOP give Matt Kelty his own wing? I could not have said it better than Mr. Green Jeans did moments ago at FWP (Fort Wayne Politics).
Author: Mr. Green Jeans
Comment:
How about Tracy Warner outing Jim Howard as a member of the “Kelty” wing of the party. I am fairly certain that the Kelty wing consists of about 8 loons and it does not include Mr. Howard. If I remember correctly, Mr. Howard was frequently critical of Kelty. Unfair and unnecessary slam by Warner.
What it comes down to is that the ultra-lib Warner believes that all pro-life individuals are unfit to serve on county council or any other office. We all know how much county council weighs in on the abortion debate.
Encoded ammunition. Requires ammunition manufacturers to encode all ammunition: (1) provided for retail sale in Indiana; and (2) used in handguns and assault weapons; by July 1, 2009. Prohibits a person from selling ammunition at retail after June 30, 2009, unless the ammunition has been encoded by a manufacturer. Requires the superintendent of the state police department to establish and maintain an encoded ammunition data base before July 1, 2009. Requires ammunition manufacturers and persons who sell ammunition at retail to provide certain information concerning encoded ammunition sales and persons who purchase encoded ammunition to the superintendent for inclusion in the data base. Imposes a fee of $0.05 per round on the sale of encoded ammunition that is sold at retail. Requires the fees to be deposited in the encoded ammunition data base fund to operate the data base. Requires a person who owns ammunition for a handgun or assault weapon that is not encoded ammunition to dispose of the ammunition before July 1, 2011. Makes an appropriation.
Fort Wayne parking ticket amnesty program announced
With Council approval, late fees waived for parking tickets starting Jan. 20
With approval from Fort Wayne City Council, the City Clerk’s office will offer a parking ticket amnesty program Jan. 20 to Jan. 30. Most parking tickets, including those 10 years old or more, can be paid for the original fine with late fees waived.
If approved by city council, you will only have 9 days to pay up.
To waive the late fee, tickets must be paid in person in the Clerk’s office on the first floor of the City-County Building, by credit card over the phone at 427-1208 or by mail using a money order or credit card with a postmark between Jan. 20 and Jan. 30. Tickets can be paid with cash, credit card or money orders in person. Personal checks will not be accepted for the amnesty program.
The late fees cannot be waived if people use the Web site to pay a late ticket.
Amazing. The city IT department apparently cannot figure out how to make it work online.
The parking amnesty resolution goes to City Council for its first reading at tonight’s Council meeting following its introduction last month.
“Fort Wayne’s parking amnesty program shows cooperation between City Council, the Clerk’s office and Mayor Henry for the benefit of residents while creating an unexpected revenue stream,” Councilman and outgoing Council President Tom Didier said. “I am pleased we are able to offer this program as way to remove some old tickets from the Clerk’s system and allow people to clear away any parking fines without late fees.”
This is the first time in 25 years that such a program would be offered in Fort Wayne. The City doesn’t know how much additional revenue this program will bring in since the City hasn’t offered a parking amnesty, however Kennedy and her staff researched parking amnesty programs in other cities.
“This program is a win-win for Fort Wayne residents and visitors as well as City government,” said Mayor Tom Henry. “Let me give my thanks to Sandy and her staff for their research and commitment to this one-time program and Council members’ support of the plan. I look forward to this resolution coming to my office for signature. I’ll gladly sign it when it comes to my desk.”
Fines that have been filed in court are not eligible for this program, however tickets that have resulted in vehicle registration suspension are.
The City’s Clerk office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
I’ve only had two tickets downtown, and paid them both online while they were still only $5.00. It will be interesting to a). see how much revenue is generated, and b). where that money is spent.
Great idea.

Roller stays - heavy sigh
Mayor Henry begs Roller to stay on the job and she accepts
Mayor asks City Controller to Reconsider
Fort Wayne, IND— Mayor Tom Henry announced today that City Controller Pat Roller will remain in the position she’s held since January, 2004.
“I’m very pleased that Pat has agreed to stay on with the Administration,” said Mayor Henry. “Her expertise and understanding, particularly in this challenging time of a slow economy and new impacts to property taxes from legislative action is a valuable asset. We were not going to find anyone with her skills and experience and thought we would be facing a learning curve with a new controller just at the most challenging time I can recall in local government finance. I am grateful that Pat agreed to remain as the Chief Financial Officer for the City.”
“Given the circumstances and the timing, I think it’s the right decision for me and the City,” said Roller, “There is a lot of work to be done as the City plans for the 2010 budget cycle as many difficult decisions will need to be made. I understand the challenges that lie ahead and look forward to continue working with the Administration, City Council and the citizens of Fort Wayne.”
I wonder what was wrong with Valerie Ahr, the Deputy Controller who was serving as interim controller? I bet city council is looking forward to another year of working with Pat .

And they wonder why the violence continues

Teen homicide victim eulogized
The contrasts between the way those who loved homicide victim Jaquan D. Allen wanted his life to be and the way it was were on display at his funeral Monday.
There was the 17-year-old Allen – gunned down Dec. 27 around 4 a.m. in a car on State Street – lying in a coffin. When they closed it, some of the approximately 200 mourners at Kingdom Door Christian Worship Center became hysterical and had to be restrained. “I just want to see him one more time!” screamed one young man, who had to be wrapped in a bear hug by a family member.
There was Taron Causey soulfully singing, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper, it won’t work,” causing women in the crowd to sob.
And there was the image of Jaquan Allen on the T-shirts of several audience members, including one worn by his father, Jesse Allen. On the front of the shirt Jaquan Allen flashes a gang sign. On the back, with a cigarette between his lips, he points a pistol.
What the hell is wrong with this guy? How can the father of this dead kid glorify gang banging, and at his kid’s funeral?

Pelosi: One-party rule
Pelosi Reverses House Fairness Rules
Connie Hair, Human Events
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi’s proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.
Pelosi’s rule changes — which may be voted on today — will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America.” [more here]
Pelosi and the house democrats want a one-party rule system. Go figure.

Get your condo! - Financing is available for The Harrison
Thanks to a faithful reader for providing this information.
There is not a lack of financing available for condos at The Harrison, contrary to what Ben Lanka and Greg Leatherman might have you believe. Star Financial has financing available.
Star Financial Bank provided this in an email:
I appreciate your willingness to let people know we are willing to offer 6 - 90% LTV loans combo 80/10/10 loans to avoid MI. (mortgage insurance)
David Egts
Mortgage Sales Manager
Star Financial Bank
An 80/10/10 LTV loan plan combines two mortgages with a down payment: an 80% first mortgage, a 10% second mortgage, and a 10% down payment. Though the buyer finances 90% of the cost of the property, the buyer avoids paying the expensive mortgage insurance required on a 90% loan by dividing the amount financed between two mortgages. The buyer will pay a higher interest rate on the smaller mortgage, however.
To date, no one has called Star Financial about getting a loan, and nowhere on The Harrison’s web site is Star Financial mentioned as a source for a loan.

An incredible story
In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .
On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.
He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.
Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.
Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.
Probably wasn’t the same elephant.
This is for all of my friends who send me those heart-warming bullshit stories.
In response to your request to call legislators and ask for a bailout for the United States automakers please consider the following, and please also pass this onto Troy Clark, the president of General Motors North America for me.
You are both infected with the same entitlement mentality that has bred like cancerous germs in UAW halls for the last countless decades, and whose plague is now sweeping the nation, awaiting our new “messiah” to wave his magical wand and make all our problems go away, while at the same time allowing our once great nation to keep “living the dream”.
The dream is over!
The dream that we can ignore the consumer for years while management myopically focuses on its personal rewards packages at the same time that our factories have been filled with the worlds most overpaid, arrogant, ignorant and laziest entitlement minded “laborers” without paying the price for these atrocities and that still the masses will line up to buy our products
Don’t tell me I’m wrong. Don’t accuse me of not knowing of what I speak. I have called on Ford, GM, Chrysler, TRW, Delphi, Kelsey Hayes, American Axle and countless other automotive OEM’s and Tier ones for 3 decades now throughout the Midwest and what I’ve seen over the years in these union shops can only be described as disgusting.
Mr Clark, the president of General Motors, states:
There is widespread sentiment in this country, our government and especially in the media that the current crisis is completely the result of bad management. It is not.
You’re right, it’s not JUST management, how about the electricians who walk around the plants like lords in feudal times, making people wait on them for countless hours while they drag ass so they can come in on the weekend and make double and triple time for a job they easily could have done within their normal 40 hour week
How about the line workers who threaten newbies with all kinds of scare tactics for putting out too many parts on a shift and for being too productive (mustn’t expose the lazy bums who have been getting overpaid for decades for their horrific underproduction, must we?!?) Do you really not know about this stuff?!?
How about this great sentiment abridged from Mr. Clarke’s sad plea:
over the last few years we have closed the quality and efficiency gaps with our competitors.
What the hell has Detroit been doing for the last 40 years?!?
Did we really JUST wake up to the gaps in quality and efficiency between us and them?
The K car vs. the Accord?
The Pinto vs. the Civic?!?
Do I need to go on?
We are living through the inevitable outcome of the actions of the United States auto industry for decades.
Time to pay for your sins, Detroit .
I attended an economic summit last week where a brilliant economist, Alan Beaulieu surprised the crowd when he said he would not have given the banks a penny of “bailout money”. Yes, he said, this would cause short term problems, but despite what people like George Bush and Troy Clark would have us believe, the sun would in fact rise the next day and something else would happen. Where there had been greedy and sloppy banks, new efficient ones would pop up. That is how a free market system works. It does work if we would let it work!
But for some reason we are now deciding that the rest of the world is right and that capitalism doesn’t work; that we need the government to step in and “save us”. Save us, hell we’re nationalizing and unfortunately too many of this once fine nation’s citizens don’t even have a clue that this is what’s really happening but they sure can tell you the stats on their favorite sports teams yeah THAT’S important.
Does it occur to ANYONE that the “competition” has been producing vehicles, EXTREMELY PROFITABLY, for decades now in this country?…
How can that be???
Let’s see - -
Fuel efficient -
Listening to customers -
Investing in the proper tooling and automation for the long haul -
Not being too complacent or arrogant to listen to Dr W Edwards Deming 4 decades ago -
Ever increased productivity through quality, lean and six sigma plans -
Treating vendors like strategic partners, rather than like “the enemy” -
Efficient front and back offices -
Non union environment -
Again, I could go on and on, but I really wouldn’t be telling anyone anything they really don’t already know in their hearts
I have six children, so I am not unfamiliar with the concept of wanting someone to bail you out of a mess that you have gotten yourself into. My children do this on a weekly, if not daily basis, as I did at their age. I do for them what my parents did for me (one of their greatest gifts, by the way). I make them stand on their own two feet and accept the consequences of their actions and work them through.
Radical concept, huh?
Am I there for them in the wings? Of course but only until such time as they need to be fully on their own as adults
I don’t want to oversimplify a complex situation, but there certainly are unmistakable parallels here between the proper role of parenting and government.
Detroit and the United States need to pay for their sins.
Bad news people, it’s coming whether we like it or not.
The newly elected Messiah really doesn’t have a magic wand big enough to “make it all go away” I laughed as I heard Obama “reeling it back in” almost immediately after the vote count was tallied “we might not do it in a year or in four”! Where was that kind of talk when he was RUNNING for the office
Stop trying to put off the inevitable!
That house in Florida really isn’t worth $750,000!
People who jump across a border really don’t deserve free health care benefits!
That job driving that forklift for the big 3 really isn’t worth $85,000 a year!
That couple whose combined income is less than $50,000 really shouldn’t be living in that $485,000 home!
Let the market correct itself people, it will. Yes it will be painful, but it’s gonna be painful either way, and the bright side of my proposal is that on the other side of it is a nation that appreciates what is has and doesn’t live beyond its means and gets back to basics and redevelops the work ethic that made it the greatest nation in the history of the world and probably turns back to God.
Sorry, don’t cut my head off. I’m just the messenger sharing with you the “bad news”
